This is a low back Supporto task chair without arms, designed by Fred Scott in 1976 and manufactured by Hille. This wonderful example is manufactured in polished, die-cast aluminium with lovely brown leather seat pads. Castors are intended for use on hard floors.

Fred Scott was one of the most highly respected office furniture designers and in his 40 year career, the Supporto chair was arguably his finest design. He designed the chair in 1976 and manufacturing started in 1979, and such was its innovative design, it revolutionised office chairs of the time and is now seen as a major influence on office furniture as we know it today. The design of the Supporto chair won national and international acclaim. Fred Scott's designs have won numerous awards including a Design Award from the Design Council. Fred Scott became a tutor at the Royal College of Art and was there for many years.

We also build bespoke, refurbished Supporto chairs at SØREN&FABER. We start with a vintage frame and build the chair using brand new, genuine Supporto moving parts and pads. We work on the chair in our central London studio and we keep you up-to-date throughout the process with images and videos.
